Dementia Nursing Care in a Homely Setting

Our residents are provided with homely, spacious, private accommodation equipped with ensuite bathrooms with showers. Our home is designed to provide independence while offering the reassurance of 24-hour care when needed. We have two designated living rooms including a dining area, and a conservatory looking out to our fantastic gardens.

Dementia symptoms can present differently in each client we work with, but common symptoms may include a loss of memory, increased confusion, speech problems and anxiety. As the illness progresses, symptoms may present as wandering, confusion, mood swings, difficulty with daily tasks and/or personal care and unpredictable behaviour.

Our staff are highly experienced and trained to recognise early and progressing symptoms and can advise on appropriate intervention. The unit is supported by a local GP who attends weekly.

We are committed to providing the best care possible and run a person-centred, holistic approach to treatment and care. We recognise dementia as an illness that does not define our residents. Helping our residents maintain a sense of self through various therapeutic methods and activities is of utmost importance in enhancing quality of life.

Depending on eligibility criteria, NHS-funded nursing care is available for those who qualify.

Our Dementia Care Facilities

Quality of life is our top priority, that’s why we run an intimate facility caring for a maximum of 12 residents at any given time. This allows us to deliver the highest standards of care within a warm and secure atmosphere.

Simple, modern and carefully designed

We offer a fully refurbished 12-bed care home comprised of simple layouts and carefully selected colours on doors, flooring and corridors to aid residents’ memory. Our colour scheme is designed to help our residents easily remember where they are, reducing day-to-day anxieties presented by dementia symptoms.

Each resident is provided with homely, spacious and private accommodation, equipped with any medical aids they may need. Our dementia residents are provided with memory boxes, as well as fully customised wrapped doors, making it easier to find their way back.

Dedicated nursing care

Residents not only benefit from the care of our dedicated team of staff, but also our nursing 24/7 service which is available to those with more complex needs.

Light- controlled areas

In our most recent refurbishment, we installed specialist lighting to help with sundowning which we recognise as a common, and distressing symptom of dementia for many individuals, whilst reducing dark areas that may cause anxiety.

Comfortable and homely lounge areas

Extra lounge areas have been installed in our home to cater to residents’ social needs and encourage those who are able to participate in activities scheduled throughout the year.

We have created comfortable, homely living spaces where residents can build relationships and spend time with recognisable faces.

Q & A

1. When should someone with dementia go into a nursing care home?

Deciding the right time to consider live-in care for your loved one can be difficult. Speaking to experienced healthcare professionals following a dementia diagnosis and progression of symptoms can help family members decide the best course of action for their loved one.

2. How much are dementia care fees?

Dementia care fees vary between different areas of the UK, and individual care plans. To find out more about Chase Park’s dementia care, speak to a member of our team on 0191 691 2568 or email us at info@chasepark.co.uk.

3. How can I ensure my loved one receives good dementia care?

Finding an environment where your loved one is not only safe but can also thrive is of utmost importance to the Chase Park team. A wide range of factors need to be considered when choosing a partner to provide dementia support, including planned treatments, staff to resident ratio, experience and training of the team, available facilities and the general ‘feel’ of the unit.

4. Dementia care home versus assisted living?

Both dementia care homes and assisted living are viable options with which to manage the ongoing care of a loved one who can no longer live independently. Ultimately each case is unique and will depend on how much care is required. To speak to a member of our team about your current care needs get in touch on 0191 691 2568 or email us at info@chasepark.co.uk.
